How To Plan A successful New Year

How To Plan A successful New Year

When a year is coming to an end, every sensible human being plans a successful new year.

He tries to live a better life which is completely better than the previous year.

In this post, we shall be looking at 7 things you will need to put into effect if you must have a great new year.

Table of Contents

Review the previous year

It might be true that the previous year was a mess. But it shouldn’t be the same by next year.

My father always says that it is only a fool that allows one evil to happen to him twice.

As a knowledgeable person, you learn from your mistakes.

Sit down, pick up a pen and paper and make a jot of all the wrongs you did the previous year.

The more you can recall, the more you are indirectly organizing a successful new year.

Draft a monthly budget for a successful new year

A yearly budget entails how a state wishes to spend its revenue during a year.

Drafting a monthly budget is one of the best ways to start a new year.

This will enable you to understand how best to spend your hard-earned money.

Putting this into practice goes a long way in allowing you to plan and execute the new year appropriately.

Discipline Yourself for the new year

One thing is to create budgets another thing is to spend wisely.

To achieve this you need to discipline yourself beyond measure.

Self-discipline in this sense means that you will need to sacrifice the acquisition of anything not available in your budget.

In everything you do, self-discipline is very important. Cut off every form of gluten.

When you get to a market or a grocery store, for example, a lot of things will be available to attract your attention. Only a person with a self-disciplined mentality can avoid all the attractions.

Split your monthly earnings

A few days ago, I asked my girlfriend on WhatsApp to split N20,000 among four categories (Savings, personal needs, family and friends).

In her response she said,

  • Savings = 7,000
  • Personal Needs = 5,000
  • Family = 5,000
  • Friends = 3,000

To her, if she was receiving N20,000 as a monthly salary this is how she will divide the money.

You can as well draft your splitting approach to your salary.

What is more important is that you don’t waste an entire salary on an expensive lifestyle.

Sieve your friends/advisers

This new year, it is high time you look into your life and make cross-check those who have contributed positively to your life.

Not everyone is supposed to be part of your life.

Friends who have never added anything positive in your life through the previous year should be laid off.

Sieve your friends. Keep those who advise you properly and lay off those that are parasites.

Some friends do not add to the value of an individual. Instead of advising you on how to better your life, they are focused on advising you to make the wrong decisions.

This group of people shouldn’t be part of your life this new year.

Set a goal for the new year

Stepping towards your goal

Setting a goal is another way of planning a successful new year.

Sit down and jot down what you want to achieve for the year.

Do you want to build a house on or before the end of the new year? This is the time to pen it down and work towards achieving it.

Learn a skill/get a job

A friend of mine has always told me that no one can be a millionaire while he is still an employee.

This by implication means that, for you to be a millionaire or a successful individual you will need to get a skill and become a boss of your own.

Starting a blog will be a great option. Check this post out on how to become a successful blogger for the new year.

Wrapping things up on how to plan a successful new year

The new year is almost here or already here (depending on when you are reading this article).

To start a successful new year, it is paramount to learn from the wrongs of the past year. Sieve your bad friends/advisers from the good ones.

More importantly, set a new year goal and get a skill or job that could help you achieve these goals.
