Step 3: Round up with your editing

Let’s say you have many other parts of the video to work on (edit), feel free to work on them. But if your focus is to just add the blur effect you can skip this step and jump to the next.

Step 4: Add your blur effect

This is where our major focus is. To add the blur effect to the video you will need to;

  • Click on the “Effect” button.
  • Click on basic
  • Find the effect that has the title “Blur”
  • Click on the blur effect and have it placed under your video automatically.

You can extend or reduce the length of the effect. This solely depends on your needs.

Now that you have successfully blurred your video you’ll notice that the video clip appears unpresentable.

Our major interest here is to blur the background of the video where someone appeared.

To achieve this you will need to;

  • Click on Overlay
  • Select the same video you are editing
  • You will notice that you already have two same videos imported to your timeline.
  • The next thing you’ll need to do is to remove the background of your overlay.
  • Removing the background will make the human being(s) in the video appear in a transparent video deleting every other thing in the background.
  • You will have to pinch the overlay video to fit in well.
  • A closer look will tell you that the background of your video was successfully blurred while your actors remained the way they were.

With this done you have successfully applied a blur effect on the background of your video.

Step 5: Export

If you are okay with your current editing You are free to export your video.
